The Immunocompromised Patient and Acyclovir-Resistance

Dr. Shafat-Fainguelernt is an internal medicine physician and infectious disease specialist from Israel. She graduated from Ben Gurion University Medical School and received further training at the Soroka University Medical Center in Beer Sheva, Israel.
Since 2017, she has been an instructor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheba, Israel. Since 2020, she has been a lecturer and head of the Internal Medicine clerkship. After working as an attending internal medicine and infectious diseases physician for two years, she moved to Houston, Texas, for a post-doctoral research fellowship at the infectious diseases department at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Currently, she actively develops definitions for resistant/refractory herpes simplex infections in immunocompromised patients on behalf of The Transplantation Associated Virus Infections (TAVI) Forum.
