Held in late April, dive deeper with the Bureau of Primary Health Care and the University of Washington into an insightful discussion regarding the complexities in genital herpes management.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genital herpes is the leading cause of genital ulcer disease which is caused by HSV Types 1 and 2. Due to these infections being very prevalent with 11.9% of the US population affected by HSV-2 and 47.8% by HSV-1, this webinar addresses the need for the stigmatization surrounding genital herpes to be dismantled. Thus, understanding the challenges of screening, diagnosing, and managing these infections can better equip clinicians and healthcare providers with the knowledge needed to share effective prevention and management strategies with their patients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session, led by\u00a0Dr. Christine Johnston<\/strong>, a distinguished member of our medical advisory board and Associate Professor at the University of Washington, covered crucial aspects of herpes management. Dr. Johnston gave a talk this past March on GHSV1, her slide deck can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some key points that Dr. Johnston touches on is the significance of diagnosing. Most transmission actually occurs from undiagnosed people so it\u2019s important to stay knowledgeable and take the necessary precautions to not only protect yourself but your partner as well! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
