It was discovered that different bacteria use CRISPR to defend themselves against viral infections, and we have now adopted similar techniques for an array of diseases. Currently, CRISPR is being used to remove the genetic mutations that lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/33283989\/\">blood disorders such as sickle cell disease<\/a>.
